Spanish tourist licence number formats by region

Every Spanish region uses its own code: VUT/MA/102186 in Andalusia, HUTB-000001 in Catalonia, CV-VUT0514102-A in the Valencian Community, VV-38-4-0106032 in the Canary Islands and UVT01420 in Navarra. We verified these five formats against the live official registers rather than against third-party summaries.

Why published lists should be treated with suspicion

Of the five formats we checked against the official files, four disagreed with what commonly-cited secondary sources describe. Valencia is the clearest case. It is published almost everywhere as VT-000000-X, yet the real register contains no such number.

This is not a cosmetic problem. A checker built on the wrong pattern returns "not found" for a valid licence. And that result gets read as an unlicensed property.

The ambiguous case - VUT

VUT (short for vivienda de uso turístico, a tourist-use dwelling) is also used in Madrid, Castilla y León, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia and Murcia. A bare VUT-1234 identifies no region on its own. Only the Andalusian form, with the province between slashes, is unique.
